NEWS AND EVENTS
The NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine (NATO MILMED COE) has been active in ensuring the interoperability of medical units via its activities practically since its establishment. Our work in concepts, doctrine, processing of observations, and validating Lessons Learned and our courses are all key elements of this, but there comes a time when evaluating how well a team, a medical unit, or a treatment facility is needed, and that’s where our Medical Evaluator Course or MEDEVAL for short comes into play.
At the Norwegian base in Sessvollmoen, near Oslo, a team of Subject Matter Experts carried out a MEDEVAL in the third week of November 2022. They evaluated the rapidly deployable Role 2 Forward of the Norwegian Army.
Recently the NATO MILMED COE and 4 instructors from Hungary, USA, Netherlands, Norway executed and facilitated a MEDEVAL Course at the Military Barracks of the Sessvollmoen garrison in Sessvollmoen, close to Oslo in Norway.
The Tartu Ambulance Foundation and the Estonian Military Academy hosted the third Baltic Region DOE International Medical Management of Radiation Injuries (I-Med) course that took place in Tartu, Estonia from 31 October till 4 November 2022.
NATO MILMED COE successfully conducted the MIMMS autumn session, between 10-13 October 2022, in Budapest, Hungary
In September, the medical staff of the HDF Medical Centre and the NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine visited the patrol dog unit of the HDF Pápa Airbase.
The Health Information Systems and Technology Working Group (HIST-WG), Medical Information Exchange Requirements Panel (Med-IER P), and Tele-Health Panel (TH-P) took place from 12-16 September 2022 in Madrid, Spain. One of our colleagues, LT COL Przemek Romelczyk has represented the NATO MILMED COE in the Working Group.
On September 28, 2022, the NATO MILMED COE's Change of Command ceremony took place in Budapest. From October 2022, Colonel Dr. László Fazekas will take over the Director’s position of NATO MILMED COE from Brigadier General Dr. Dirk-Friedrich Klagges, who has been the Director of the Centre since 2019.
