DEPARTMENT HEAD
Department Head
The NATO MILMED COE was nominated by ACT Joint Force Trainer (JFT) to be the Department Head (DH) for the NATO Medical Support (Med Sup) Discipline, and the appointment was approved by the North Atlantic Council (NAC) on 25 June 2015. In the area of education and training, the NATO MILMED COE plays a dual role, acting as DH, and as a NATO-accredited education and training provider.
Global Programming
NATO Education and Training (E&T) activities are essential for preparing the NATO Command Structure (NCS) and NATO Force Structure (NFS) for current and future missions. These activities identify NATO-specific training requirements, highlighting the disparities between the skills and technical abilities taught in national environments and those required for success within NATO. Adhering to established doctrine and standards, E&T supports NATO’s strategic objectives while integrating new concepts and capabilities.
The Global Programming (GP) framework addresses the diverse training needs of NATO personnel, providing tailored solutions for all posting requirements. This structured management system ensures alignment with quality and effectiveness standards. Additionally, Education and Individual Training (E&IT) is governed by the GP framework, which includes a comprehensive governance structure, development methodology, and production planning process for NATO’s Education, Training, Exercises, and Evaluation (ETEE).
Development Methodology
The Headquarters Supreme Allied Command Transformation (HQ SACT) oversees the overall management of NATO E&T through the Multi-Domain Force Development (MDFD) Branch. Within the governance framework of each discipline, a Requirements Authority (RA) and a Department Head (DH) facilitate the centralized coordination and decentralized execution of NATO E&T activities and events.
