3rd DHS Course - Level 1 in Marseille, 6-10 June 2016

Opening Day 1 webSince 2013, the Budapest-based NATO MILMED COE in cooperation with the French Forces Epidemiology and Public Health Centre (CESPA) in Marseille, proposes yearly a course dedicated to medical personnel: the NATO Deployment Health Surveillance Course - Level 1. This course aims to enhance NATO force protection skills against the threat of infectious diseases and bioterrorist attacks.

In June 2016, 21 physicians and nurses from 11 nations, namely Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Qatar, Sweden, Swiss, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom attended this 3rd course after the Pilot in 2013. They acquired necessary knowledge to wider understand the importance of health surveillance as part of military medical support and to become active actor in its implementation and development.

'Breaking boundaries' Workshop in Budapest

The NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine (MILMED COE) conducted the 3rd NATO Medical Lessons Learned Workshop in Budapest, Hungary from 12 to 14 April 2016. It was a very successful workshop focused on developing methods to share nationally developed medical observations, Lessons and Good and Best practices within the Health Support Services arena. Attended by 16 people from 7 nations the 2 day meeting produced guidance that outlines processes that will support a nation’s ability and willingness to share. The result is a flexible process, controlled by the providing nation, that is designed to allow each participating nation to provide what they are comfortable sharing. Each nation can choose individually and adjustments to those decisions can be made at any time. Additionally the participants unanimously decided to create a standing organization /the Multinational Medical Lessons Learned Team (MMLLT))/ to lead and stimulate the sharing across the alliance.
