NATO First Responder Trainer (FRT) Training (COE-MED-M4-005)
Aim:
To train the trainers (trainer candidates) on NATO regulation procedures regarding medical treatment and evacuation in a multinational environment. To promote interoperability and common understanding. To understand national techniques, procedures and equipment. To advise on education methodology. Exchange of national / multinational lessons (sharing best practice) in the field of first aid provision from NATO operational deployments.
Target Population:
Military Officers, Warrant Officers and Senior NCOs or civilian equivalents of any service, involved in training of non medical first responder.
Pre-requisites:
Language proficiency: English according to STANAG 6001 2.2.2.2 (listening/speaking/reading/writing)
Computer skills: N/A
Other pre-requisites:
• to be a first responder trainer in national environment
• to have operational experience
Instructional Components:
• Day 1: NATO medical treatment and evacuation; Introduction of national FRT including equipment;
• Day 2: Emergency bandage; Psychological aspects of FR; Psychological workshop; Training and education methodology including simulation; Skill teaching / 4 stages method; Simulation Workshop
• Day 3: Legal and ethical aspects of training of self/buddy aid and combat life savers; Common First Responders mistakes; Summary of the National Training curricula and NATO proposal for minimum content of a FR training; Workshop - National field best practices; First Responder Equipment availability; TTE - Communication in the field - 9 liner, Patient Evacuation Coordinating Centre (PECC); Contribute to NATO Clinical Tactical Lessons Learned Database
Learning Objectives:
• LO 1: to familiarize participants on latest developments and approved procedures within NATO's treatment and medical evacuation procedures and techniques (triage; use of tourniquets, 9 liner MEDEVAC request etc.)
• LO 2: to enhance participants with the latest education methodologies including simulation capabilities
• LO 3: to share best practices and contribute to NATO Clinical Tactical Lessons Learned Database

(2) STANAG 2122 – Requirement for Training in First-Aid, Emergency Care in combat situations and basic hygiene for all military personnel
(3) STANAG 2126 – First-Aid dressings, Fist Aid kits and Emergency Medical Care Kits
(4) STANAG 2549 – Training requirements for health care personnel in international missions AMedP-17
(5) STANAG 2358 – First-Aid and Hygiene Training in a CBRN or TIH environment
(6) STANAG 2871 – First-Aid materiel for chemical injuries
(7) AD 83-1 – Medical Support to Operations
